My name is DeAnne. I’m the owner of Soapy Hollow, an artisan soap studio. I’m also a writer, a wife, a mom, an activist, a slave to my menagerie of animals, and a Scorpio. So, I’ve got that going for me.
I first learned how to make soap when I was a girl, from Appalachian women who were using recipes that had been handed down for generations. Fortunately, as years have gone by, access to to pure and organic ingredients became easier, and I was able to create some new and fun recipes.
Eventually, I found myself with more soap than was rational to keep in one house. These things happen.
At the same time that I was filling up spare bedrooms with soap, there was an explosion of hobbyists that became interested in the soap business, and a myriad of micro businesses have spawned. There’s a ton of interesting people in this industry, and some good suppliers and some bad suppliers.
On the blog, I’ll be sharing recipes, reviewing suppliers, materials and ingredients, and introducing readers to some really groovy people.
