Once our stocks are gone, we will not purchase any more, as we cannot in good conscience take part in the destruction that surrounds this precious resource. We are now sourcing our Sandalwood essential from a renewed forestry grower in Australia.

Why has Soapy Hollow stopped purchasing Mysore Sandalwood?

Sandalwood oil is in high demand today and the resource is dwindling. This has led to several unfavorable results;

1) sandalwood oil is one of the most adulterated essential oils;

2) the cost of sandalwood oil is raising dramatically, (about 125% per year);

3) due to the value of sandalwood oil the trees are being illegally harvested, often clearcut before they've had time to mature or produce replacement trees.

4.) Additionally, this poaching has lead to several murders of forestry officials and other crimes indicative of the black market. Therefore, SoapyHollow will be purchasing our oil from a renewable resource sandalwood forest in Australia.
