Prized for millennia, Frankincense (Boswellia carteri ) essential oil has a rich, warming aroma that provides a grounding and centering effect. Our steam distilled Frankincense has an ethereal, clear aroma void of any harsh notes.

Rose of Sharon (Cistus landaniferus ) is rich, warm and spicy in aroma, and has been used emotionally to warm that which is frozen. It is a wonderful oil for those who have been traumatized or suffer from a dramatic loss. Cistus is considered one of the ancient spiritual oils with a history of being used in incense as an aid to meditation and centering. Origin - Spain, Wild, Steam Distilled.

Spikenard Nardostachys jatamansi is a soft, aromatic herb with a strongly pungent rhizome root. It is mentioned in many holy books including the Song of Solomon and the New Testament. From a spiritual aspect, it is believed to inspire devotion and add to inner peace. It is also an aid in finding inner balance, helping one to release old fears and grudges, and move on.

Cedarwood (Juniperus mexicana) oil can calm anxiety, and help diffuse fear. In this blend, I'm using a Texas cedarwood oil, because I think the purity and scent throw exceeds that of any other cedar I've tested.

Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha ) is thought to enhance spirituality and as an aid in meditation or before healing. The significant history of Myrrh dates back some 4,000 years for its use in healing, perfumery and ritualistic ceremonies. Myrrh essential oil is a warm, sweet smelling (yet bitter tasting), earthy oil.

Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis var. decumbens was well known in ancient times, and referred to in the Bible for its cleansing effect. Hyssop was used for purifying sacred places and as a strewing herb in the Middle Ages. Hyssop decumbens essential oil is an aromatherapy specialty oil. The common Hyssop (Hyssop officinalis), an essential oil that contains potentially toxic ketones, should not be a substitute for Hyssop decumbens. Hyssop decumbens is one of the most potent anti-viral essential oils. When inhaled, its sweetly medicinal aroma is supposedly very effective in loosening tightness in the chest and in relieving bronchial spasms.

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) has a warm, spicy scent that is slightly herbaceous with pepper notes. From a spiritual perspective, it is believed to have a warming, uplifting characteristic. Medicinal use of cinnamon bark was first recorded in Chinese formularies as early as 2700 B.C. The Egyptians used it as a foot massage, as well as a remedy for excessive bile. It was used as an ingredient of mulled wines, love potions and a sedative during birth.

Cassia, Cinnamomum cassia ( Cinnamomum aromaticum) also known as Bastard Cinnamon and Chinese Cinnamon, Cassia has been used medicinally in China for several thousand years. Its first recorded use dates back to the Han Dynasty (200 B.D.-A.D. 200).

Calamus ( Acorus calamus ) is a stimulating nervine antispasmodic, and a general tonic to the mind. As a rejuvenative for the brain and nervous system, it is used to promote cerebral circulation, to stimulate self-expression, and to help manage a wide range of symptoms in the head, including neuralgia, epilepsy, memory loss and shock. It is used in the Phillipines for rheumatism and memory problems. In Korea, it is an ingredient in a type of moonshine called Immortals' Booze. Research in China has shown the essential oil in this rhizome to be sedating and neuroprotectant. According to Ayurvedic tradition, Calamus is a 'sattvic' herb, which feeds and transmutes the sexual 'kundalini' energy. Calamus has been called called 'the closest thing to a sex stimulant that nature has to offer. Acorus calamus root was also used by the ancient Greeks and included in the traditional remedies of many other European cultures.

Liquidambar (Styrax - Liquidambar styraciflua ) It is especially hard to find a Liquidambar essential oil that has a pleasant aroma - most have a distinctly chemical aroma. This one is sweet, spicy and resinous. This styrax has been "neutralized", meaning that the potentially skin irritating compounds found in the natural oil have been removed. Liquidambar essential oil is a hard-to-find specialty oil. It is one of the oldest plant materials used to make incense.
